PRESS RELEASE:
The Village of Republic regretfully announces the unexpected passing of Mayor Fred deJonge Monday August 25, 2008. The village would like to express their condolences to the deJonge family. Mayor deJonge was a resident of Republic for over 17 years. He served his community as a member of council for 7 ½ years and as Mayor for 8 months. During his tenor he served on
the Street, Utility, and Youth Services Committees and as Chair for the Tree Committee.
Mayor deJonge was a pillar
of the Community. Mayor deJonge loved his family and the Village of Republic. He
dedicated his life to serving his community and caring for his family. Mayor deJonge took
great pride in his community service and his charitable support of non-profit organizations.
The Mayor will continue to keep on giving as his body was donated for science and the giving
of vital tissue and bone samples. The Village of Republic and the deJonge family has suffered
a great loss. Mayor deJonge will be sadly missed, but will never be forgotten.
Rest in Peace, Fred your work
