The Republic Police Department
is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. Our agency is comprised of 1 full time Chief, 2 part time sergeants,
5 part time officers and 4 unpaid Auxiliary Officers. We provide police protection to the Village of Republic. The Village
of Republic is located in Seneca County 11 miles east of Tiffin. Republic is 1 square mile that is the home of 618 residents
and 4 state highways. Our agency responds to over 900 calls for service and over 1,000 traffic stops per year.
The police department first responds
for EMS in Scipio Township and works closely with all local agencies. We have mutual aide contracts with Attica, Bloomville
and Green Springs. Each officer is sworn as a special deputy and provides assistance to the Seneca County Sheriff and the
Drug Task Force. We also have a close working relationship with the City of Tiffin. We provide assistance to the city and
work off duty detail in the City when needed.
The Republic Police Department is on the forefront of technology and training. We believe
strongly in providing the best equipment and training for our officers. Although, we provide uniforms, officers are responsible
to purchase their own weapon and duty gear. In addition to the equipment and training, the police department has comprehensive
policies. We strive to be the best police department in Seneca County.
Newly hired officers are hired into an Auxiliary position. Once trained the officers are moved
into a part time position with a starting pay of $9.00 per hour. The pay then increases to $10.00 per hour after the 6 month
probation period.
